I’m sure you the reader is as frustrated as I am over the events we see in our nation. Something you need to understand is the changes we see in our Federal Government are first, bipartisan (meaning both political parties are equally responsible), and second, intentional.
The founders of our Constitution believed the structures of a limited government would provide the greatest protection of our liberty. There were to be checks and balances at the federal level. And everything not specifically granted to Congress for legislative control was to be left to the states.
Today we are witnessing a bipartisan effort to enlarge the Federal Government.
Some would call this the deep state. This conspiracy on ideas set forth by our founding fathers has its roots in big business, big tech, and politicians absorbed in the lust for power and control while financially profiting at the expense of the citizens who elected them. This collusion among the aforementioned has overrun the checks and balances outlined in our Constitution. Sadly, once politicians gain power, they are reluctant to relinquish it. Just like a feather pillow is broken and feathers are released into the wind, it is almost impossible to recollect the feathers.
Today we see non-elected bureaucrats in federal agencies writing and enforcing laws. This was not the will nor intent of the founding fathers. Agencies such as the Internal Revenue Service, Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Transportation, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Agriculture, and Department of Education, among others, are regularly writing laws that affect our daily lives.
Sadly, the persons responsible for writing these laws are not elected by we the people. They are career bureaucrats who thrive on power and control. The decisions they make far exceed the powers spoken of in the Constitution. These powers were intended to remain within the individual states.
This is why both of our political parties look and act the same. Sadly, during election time we are given false promises by politicians who have no intention of keeping their word to the American people. Senators like Lindsey Graham and Mitch McConnell are a prime example of the hypocrisy in government. Graham begged and pleaded for money to help reelect him but then betrayed the Americans who supported him.
So, what is the answer?
- First, we need to advocate TERM LIMITS for all Congressmen, Senators, and Judges. This would eliminate career politicians and judges and allow for an attitude of service rather than provide lifelong careers for self-serving politicians.
- Second, we need to greatly limit the overreach of the federal government and return power to WE THE PEOPLE in the form of states’ rights.
- Third, we must have a balanced budget to prevent our career politicians and bureaucrats from bankrupting our nation and embezzling the legitimate authority of the states.
What we are witnessing today will eventually destroy the blessings of liberty and enslave our children and grandchildren to the debts and bad decisions of the past. Our founding fathers anticipated such a time as this and included Article 5 in the Constitution. Perhaps it would be good for you to secure a copy of the Constitution and read it.
