I AM ANGRY

A Righteous Rant From Germantown’s Marc King (At the One Year Anniversary of the MoCo Conservative Blog!)

By Marc King

As the past several weeks have gone by, I find myself more irritable than usual. Everything seems to be a bit off and my wife has even asked me: “Why are you being so short about things”?

That caused me to stop and think — why am I being so testy lately?

Well I have given it some serious thought and here is what I have concluded — I’m not “testy” — I am flat out ANGRY about the way things have been going in this country and I suspect that they will not be getting better any time soon. I also suspect that what is making me angry is also making a lot of other American angry — so just what is driving these feelings.

I would start with the loss of the First Amendment of the Constitution.

It takes an enormous amount of “CHUTZPAH” (Oxford Languages Dictionary defines as “extreme self-confidence or audacity and in this example it is audacity) for Jen Psaki to stand on the platform of the White House Briefing Room and inform the American people that if you have an opinion that is different than Joe Biden’s it should labeled “misinformation” and you should be banned from the social media platform that your speech was posted on. For that matter, you should be banned from all social media.

Now, I was taught in 9th grade civics that if the people want to change the Constitution, we do that by amending it. Study.Com tells us the Constitution’s Article V lays out the process by which the Constitution may be amended. There are actually four different ways, but only one is widely usedso let’s just focus on that: “Proposal by Congress, with ratification by the state legislatures. This method was used for all current amendments except one.

No where in the Constitution does it say that the Executive, that is the President of the United States, or any of his Cabinet or Staff has the authority to suspend, dilute or disregard the Constitution or any of its Amendment or parts.

The Constitution that the current Executive branch is degrading, is the very same Constitution that I swore an oath to protect and defend on December 6, 1966. So when I hear Ms. Psaki speak in the manner she does, it really ticks me off.

I’m angry that we cannot have faith in the election just held months ago because we cannot be allowed to know what took place in the Socialist Democrat strong holds across the country. And believe me, something was very, very, wrong. There seems to be enough smoke to generate a fire, but those who are in charge have steadfastly refused to allow a full investigation to take place! Why is that? Information is leaked out every day that diminishes our belief in an election process that is fair and transparent. Politicians could bring forth information that can deny or confirm the numerous irregularities that seem to be there, and yet they will not. What are they hiding? Their behavior ticks me off!

I am angry about the southern border. I’m not angry at the people who have crossed or will cross illegally. It falls under Maslow’s “Hierarchy of Needs” theory. But what really ticks me off is that this situation was well under control on January 20th of this year and just 6 months later the entire country has been plunged into chaos by illegals being moved around the county in the middle of the night by airplanes being supported by the US Air Force!

No one seems to know where they are going or how they will be supported when they get there, and still they come. Is this enough to make you angry? No?! If not, why not? Their arrival here is illegal. Their arrival is a clear violation of our statues regarding immigration. What is more, we know for a fact that helpless children are being trafficked and sexually abused along the way. Therefore it must be concluded that any use of the military and its assets to harbor or support the movement of those breaking the law, and those being victimized by the lawbreakers, has now turned those in the military into lawbreakers themselves. The Uniform Code of Military Justice, the UCMJ is clear on this matter — lawful orders must be obeyed. However, when the base commander orders his airmen and woman that they cannot communicate what they are seeing take place under the cover of darkness on the airbase, that is not a lawful order! A member of the US military cannot be ordered to break the law intentionally and knowingly! So when this occurs, and it is occurring, it really gets my dander up!

Black lives matter… they really do… except in Chicago, Los Angeles, Washington DC and New York! Every weekend it’s the same report — young people, innocent bystanders are being gunned down in the streets of their cities and no one seems to give a hoot. Blame the gun — not the gunmen — it really pisses me off!

I’m angry about the uneven application of the law! For example, in Portland and Seattle, if you begin to burn down a federal Courthouse and injure those inside protecting it, you walk free in 24 hours. But if you walk around the Capitol, you are considered an insurrectionist and you’re given an 8 month prison sentence. Many who committed no crimes have been locked up for 8 months, pre-trial! Loot, burn and destroy property — no problem! You earned it! Firebomb police cars, even if you are a sworn Officer of the Court, and nothing happens! Nor does anything happen, of real consequence, when you are the Governor of New York and are accused by multiple women of sexual harassment. In fact, you can kill helpless old folks in nursing homes, with COVID, and nothing happens! Oh… wait… something does happen: You make a book deal for millions and the people you executed are still dead. Why wouldn’t I be angry?

Oh how the list goes on: Critical Race Theory… being told by the PTA that they own your child, and if you disagree with them ‘you should die’! Even the Chairman of the Joints Chiefs is WOKE! So much so that he is searching for offensive tattoos in the ranks and debating “Gay Pride” flags while our enemies are training their asses off for nuclear war.

The next generation of military leaders at West Point are being taught that the color of your skin matters… so maybe the person you need to rely on will not be so reliable. I never saw racial discrimination in the foxhole when the bullets were flying. It seems that we were all of the same mind then, as we should be now, but we are not. That ticks me off.

Then there is China and Russia — and they really tick me off. The fact that we are seriously compromised by the Biden Crime Family — Hunter Biden’s Laptop tells the tale — both of these international rivals have their hand in Biden’s back pocket, and at least 50% of the country does not care. Why is that? That really ticks me off.

I am paying more for my gasoline; and that seriously ticks me off. Food is costing more, for no good or justifiable reason, just bad economic policy, so why shouldn’t Americans be angry? I certainly am. Because of Biden’s inflationary policy, the money I worked hard to save for my “Golden Years” is being eroded away. My family is forced to make choices that Americans should not have to make, like seeking out private schools when we pay taxes to support the public school system. That ticks me off. Taxes are going up and services are coming down. We are turning into a nation of “good enough” rather than a nation that is proud of what it achieves. Socialism and Communism look good to way too many people in this country! That really, really, really, ticks me off.

They are trying to, and in many ways, they are, wearing us down – and that My Fellow Americans — is why I am not just ticked off; that is why I’m ANGRY!

King: Biden Doesn’t Need Congress – Let’s Send Them Home

Marc King is a frequent contributor to The MoCo Conservative and lives in Germantown, Maryland.

The events that have been occurring in our country since the inauguration of President Donald Trump just over four years ago have been truly startling. The events and history surrounding the activities of our Intelligence Community, The Swamp, the Special Council, and the media are well known to all of us. I do not intend to recount them again. Instead, I would like to look further back in history – since not knowing history will cause us to repeat it – and perhaps the replication is happening right before our eyes, right now!

Statue of the famous roman emperor Julius Caesar.

The day was January 10th in the year 49 BC when an event occurred that forever changed the very nature of the Roman Empire. Julius Caesar entered Rome with his Legion, an act that was considered treason by the Roman Senate:

“Julius Caesar’s crossing the Rubicon river on January 10, 49 BC precipitated the Roman Civil War, which ultimately led to Caesar’s becoming dictator and the rise of the imperial era of Rome.”

Today, the phrase “crossing the Rubicon” is a metaphor that means to pass a point of no return. History goes on to tell us the Rubicon was the boundary between Gaul and Italy, the border that no Roman general could cross with an army, without being prosecuted by the Senate; Caesar crossed this because he knew he was going to be prosecuted by the Senate when he returned.

“Crossing the Rubicon” by Luca Fezzi.

And just for the record… Julius Caesar commanded four Legions. Each Legion consisted of 4,000-6,000 soldiers. So, on the average of 5,000 soldiers in a Legion, Caesar only had one Legion in Italy at the time, so we can assume that some 4,000-6,000 soldiers might have crossed the Rubicon with their Caesar!

“Julius Caesar and his two political allies, the richest man in Rome and the Greatest General, bribed Caesar’s way to consul, then they got him to be governor of a province in Iberia, then conquered Gaul. All of this, to get ‘Imperium’ which meant he can’t be prosecuted for his crimes. He then marched on Rome and did lots of reforms and stuff as Dictator, he destroyed what little bit of a republic Rome still had.”

Historian William Pacheco

Now we fast forward to January 20, 2021 in Washington, D.C. It’s Inauguration Day and what do we see: over 25,000 soldiers have entered our Capital city at the direction of the about-to-be inaugurated President Elect and Commander in Chief and his minions – almost exactly what Caesar’s soldiers did in 49 BC.

As history shows us Caesar transforms the Republic of Rome to a dictatorship by committing “lots of illegal stuff.” Well, we know for sure that he did not have to steal an election – that is left up to 21st Century politicians and their party to do. So, with our very own Caesar occupying the Capital City of America, how can we be sure he is fulfilling the historical role of “DICTATOR”?

It is past week two of the occupation and Joe Biden has issued 49 Executive Orders, ranging in scope from singlehandedly destroying women’s sports and ensuring men can use the women’s locker room if they so choose, to killing the Keystone XL Pipeline, and to halting the building of the Border Wall, putting some 60,000+ Americans out of work at a time the country is struggling with a pandemic.

Folks will not be worrying who is missing at their breakfast table, Joey, because they will not have a breakfast table at all.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you our First American Caesar!

While work of the first American Caesar continues unabated, what is our Senate doing? Why, they are busy impeaching someone who is not there! They have failed to notice that the Republic is crumbling before their eyes, and short of having “Nero” to play a lively tune for them, they essentially are doing NOTHING! And neither is the House of Representatives, which brings us to the point of my article.

We have our Caesar, so why do we need a Congress at all? There no longer seems to be the need to pass legislation and laws. That is now being done by Executive Order. If you want the federal government’s 650,000 gasoline powered vehicles ditched and new electric vehicles procured to replace them – well just write an Executive Order and make it so. Want to use the US military as a social engineering lab? Make it so with the stroke of the pen. Re-enter the Paris Climate Accords or the Iran Nuclear Deal! Who needs Congress and the Constitution? I HAVE A PEN!

So why are we spending billions on a Congress? Our First American Caesar can just dismiss them, thank them for their service, hand out a few Gold Star Certificates, and then send them packing. What can be better than Term Limits? Wait for it…NO TERMS AT ALL!

It’s 2021 and we have “Crossed the Rubicon” – The Republic Is Lost!

Commentary: The War On Small Businesses Has Just Begun

Anonymous lives in Montgomery County, Maryland.

Have you recently wondered why the Democratic left is targeting and persecuting small businesses? It saddens me greatly that our own County Executive, Marc Elrich (who is an admitted Marxist), chooses to punish and harass small businesses. His harassment of the Clarksburg Tavern shows his contempt for the small businesses of Montgomery County. His executive order closing all restaurants is a total abuse of power.

At the beginning of the pandemic all mom-and-pop stores were forced to close while box stores such as Walmart, Target, Costco and Home Depot were allowed to remain open. It doesn’t make sense, nor does it seem scientific, that I should be less likely to contact the China Virus in big corporate box stores and more likely to be infected in Joe’s mom-and-pop clothing store or restaurants such as the Clarksburg Tavern.

During the Christmas season, millions of people traveled in airplanes, seated next to each other after enduring long lines to take off their shoes and stuff their jackets into bins that dozens of others have used. Yet, the airlines remain open.

Tucker Carlson shows photos of California Governor Gavin Newsom flouting pandemic guidelines

The hypocrisy of politicians is unbelievable. The exemptions and excuses they make for themselves as they break their own rules truly show the double standard that exists in America today. These politicians are drunk on power, the same power that encouraged patriots to leave England and develop a new world where they could experience FREEDOM.

So, to answer the original proposed question of why is the left targeting and persecuting small businesses, I suggest the answer to the question requires you to understand and acknowledge that small business owners have a self sufficient and determined attitude.

The same spirit that this country was built on lives inside these independent thinkers and hard workers who have an entrepreneurial spirit, unlike community organizers or politicians. They do not like government controls and unreasonable regulations. They do not need government but rather tolerate it.

The reality is small business is a threat to big government. Corporate box stores and big businesses bribe politicians for favors. Small businesses are not able to provide the big dollars that politicians expect from large corporations. Consequently, small businesses are a thorn in big government’s side. The pandemic (“Dem-panic”) is an excuse to reduce the number of small businesses. Government wants us dependent on them. Small businesses don’t fit into their business plan.

Tiny Homes (ADUs) Are Killing The American Dream

By Patricia Fenati Of Montgomery County, Maryland.

If you’ve ever read anything about the Russian revolution and the early days of the Soviet Union (or saw the movie Dr. Zhivago), you know that one of the consequences of the communist takeover was to require the sharing of homes by seizing individual properties and moving numerous people into those homes.

Nazi socialism did the same by taking property of those they considered enemies and giving it to others.

Agenda 21’s plan is to get you living in a “stack and pack” tiny home with no freedom.

No one is moving into my home (yet) but Montgomery County, Maryland, which is facing a housing shortage because we are a sanctuary county, has come up with a neoteric (I think off-the-wall)  solution. The County Council recently passed a proposal to provide additional housing in the county termed “Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs),” which allows additional dwelling places in virtually all residential zones.

This dictate essentially negates home zoning laws and allows homeowners to add an apartment in their home, basement, or garage or to build a small house (up to 1,200 sq. ft.) on their property, no matter what the size of the lot. It is intended to increase affordable housing in Montgomery County by encouraging smaller, more cost-accessible units as additions to individual properties.

Why does zoning matter?

According to Wikipedia, the primary purpose of zoning is to segregate land uses into divisions that are meant to be compatible. In practice, zoning is also used to prevent new development from interfering with existing uses and/or to preserve the “character” of a community. By allowing individual homes to be separated from commercial and dense housing such as apartment buildings, residents can be assured that their neighborhood homes have coherence, thus protecting the existing neighborhoods.  Zoning restrictions and standards help prevent overcrowding and protect home values. ADUs will promote overcrowding and houses built too close to each other.

Montgomery County citizens have major investments in their homes, sometimes acquired at great sacrifice. They carefully chose the neighborhoods where they live and expected that their elected representatives would assure the quality of life in those neighborhoods would remain the same. Additional dwelling units everywhere will have a significant negative impact on the quality of neighborhoods.

As residents start to add dwelling units built in back yards and convert basements and garages to additional units, the value of neighboring homes will decrease.

I predict “investors” will then purchase those lower cost homes, making separate apartments in the house and putting small rental units in back yards. This will have a serious impact on all housing developments in the county. To avoid this, the new county law requires that the owner live on the property. This sounds good, but once hundreds of these ADUs are built around the county, who is going to police this situation? A person can move away from a site and never notify the county.

“We moved to Montgomery County over 40 years ago. We relied on county zoning to regulate the size of lots and homogenize the structures in our neighborhood. We thought we were assured that new building on a neighboring property would be in harmony with the home in which we live. Now that that assurance is gone, I do not think additional homes in my neighbors’ yards are compatible with the neighborhood into which I moved.”

Patricia Fenati

What effects will these additional units have on parking? The law also loosened parking restrictions for ADUs, so that owners are only required to ensure two off-street spots. Thus, there will be additional parking on the streets.

What about water supply and sewage capacity? What if there is a septic tank? A home in a neighborhood near mine was converted into five apartments (against regulations at that time) and rented to several families. That house had a septic tank which soon was over capacity and caused raw sewage to creep to the surface. Since that was an illegal situation, it was eventually remedied. But since the county did not even police that situation, how will there be adequate oversight when small homes are going up all over the county?

“Living close to work shouldn’t be a luxury for the rich.  It’s a right for everyone.  Here’s the tough thing to talk about, though we must.  Rich people are gonna have to allow — or be forced to allow — lower income people live near them, which is what we fail to do in this country right now.”

“Beto” O’Rourke

Voters need to understand that what’s happening in Montgomery County is the forerunner of a radical Obama plan, AFFH (Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing) and Joe Biden promises to implement AFFH nationally. But Biden is planning to go further than the Obama plan and follow Cory Booker’s plan to end single family zoning in the suburbs and create little cities everywhere.

Suburban living was initiated to afford a choice for living, away from crowded cities. People were willing to spend the time commuting to jobs in the city in order to have that option for living.

When we moved into Montgomery County those 40 years ago, it was the richest county in the country, with the best education rating in the nation (neither is true today).

When we moved here, we could not afford to live in the wealthy suburbs near Washington, D.C., but we found a home in a new development in a small town in rural farm country. We were able to get a larger home with more property than any we could have purchased with a shorter commute near the city. We have worked for many years to maintain our home, make improvements and pay on our mortgage. We were not rich, Mr. O’Rourke; we knew a move to a home in the country meant a lifetime commitment to a long commute to jobs in the city. But now we are going to be forced to allow lower income people to move into our neighborhood. Buying our home required many sacrifices, but we felt the wholesome atmosphere with fields and woods for our children to play in was worth being far from work. And our children did have many carefree hours exploring the countryside near our home (that was when children were free to roam, not always tethered to a nearby adult). Now the opportunity of open spaces will be denied to other hard working families.

Granted, there are no requirements to force others into our homes (yet) and I am not required (yet) to have additional housing on my property, but make no mistake, forcing ADUs into existing neighborhoods is a move toward socialism.

Response to MoCo Executive Elrich’s EO 87-20

From a Small Business Owner in Montgomery County, Maryland.

According to the Montgomery County Department of Alcohol Beverage Services, there are 1,050 liquor license holders in Montgomery County, Maryland. This number does not include the thousands of food-only service businesses in Montgomery County. HHS claims they’ve closed or cited 8 restaurants/bars total in Montgomery County for failure to abide by COVID-19 regulations. Of these 8, HHS cannot confirm how many of them held liquor licenses.

Now, every establishment that serves alcohol, including those that pay $2,500.00 per year for an extended license to serve alcohol between 12:00 am-2:00 am on the weekends, are being forced to stop serving at 10:00 pm.

With all the millions being spent on contact tracing, one would think it would be fairly easy to identify establishments not adhering to the regulations.

The County charged existing businesses additional fees for new applications to conduct business during COVID-19; they are doing all they can to hurt businesses with policies that don’t make anyone safer. This is another chip away at our freedoms and another step towards complete government control.
