From A Concerned Mother In Montgomery County, Maryland To A Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) High School.
Dear Principal X,
The mandatory re-education this morning in homeroom is appalling. Your school has been very good about telling my sons what racists they are by virtue of being white. I have not complained for these many years because I know that the people who believe this are hateful and vindictive people. They would baselessly brand me a racist and make my children suffer significant consequences.

My husband and I supported the candidacy of Dr. Ben Carson, a national hero. Dr. Carson disagrees with the stance of BLM, et al. We follow Dr. Carson’s lead. He is black and grew up super poor in a very poor, inner city neighborhood. He taught us about the soft racism of low expectations; we will not participate in that because we believe in the ability of black people to make it just like we believe in the ability of any other person to make it in a free country under a system of free enterprise.

We believe those to who think otherwise are racists who cause significant harm to our country, to the cause of true equality, to our communities, and to the black community, in particular.

I read that we will have to prove our son has had his “lesson” if he does not attend this morning’s atrocious lecture. Please understand, you have spent nearly four years now teaching my son how hateful a human being he is, just by the virtue of his skin. His textbooks contained it, his reading assignments were on almost nothing but this topic; you never taught him the other argument or about wonderful men like Dr. Carson, and X understands, viscerally, how much he is hated because of the color of his skin. So do we. That’s enough.

If you want to force my child into proving to you that he has adopted the DNC platform, heart and soul, we will take it public and ask the court to rule on it.
Sincerely,
A Concerned Mother
